Most Holy Trinity Monastery Guesthouse

A Monastic Spiritual Retreat

Father Abbot and the community are happy to welcome you to Most Holy Trinity Monastery’s guesthouse for men. As cloistered contemplative monks, we are not retreat masters in the usual sense of the word; but in keeping with the ancient tradition of monastic hospitality, we offer our facilities for retreats. By spending some time with us in our monastic observances, men are given a chance to listen and speak to our Lord without the distractions of the world,  to refresh and reinvigorate their souls and to deepen their spiritual lives in an environment of authentic Catholic fervor with men totally dedicated to the Church. Your are cordially invited to make a monastic spiritual retreat and to share with us  the following observances:

Like the monks’ daily schedule, your time spent here revolves around the sacred liturgy. You are encouraged to attend Mass and the various hours of the divine praises. Guests do not chant with the choir.

You will have ample leisure for adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament and personal meditation in the chapel, time in the solitude of your room or on the monastery grounds.

The schedule will also provide you with a generous amount of time for spiritual reading. Please do not fail to use your time well. Books are available in the guesthouse for a variety of good reading materials.

cross5.gif (1027 bytes) Silence

Silence is an integral part of our monastic life and we are jealous of our quiet. This is also essential for a good spiritual retreat. Except for necessity, we encourage retreatants not to engage in conversation with the monks or other guests. You may speak with the guestmaster and he will assist you in your needs. To help maintain silence, please do not use radios, televisions, computers on your retreat. We do not provide for use of e-mail or internet.

The guestmaster (or other monk-priest) is available for confession and/or private conference. We have provided rooms for this purpose in our Visitors’ building.

Meals are taken in silence, buffet style (self-service). You may bring a book in the refectory and read during meals. Morning and evening meals are in the guesthouse refectory (St. Lawrence room); the midday meal is in the monk’s refectory.
